With the arrival of the new year, the new registration fee for the Chianti Classico Marathon is now in effect. The event will take place on Sunday, May 10th, 2026 in Mercatale Val di Pesa, in the heart of the Chianti Classico area. From January 1st, registration fees for the competitive distances have been updated, marking an important step for all runners planning to take part in the event.
The Chianti Classico Marathon is much more than a race: it is a true sporting experience set in one of Italy’s most fascinating landscapes, among historic vineyards, castles, medieval villages and long stretches of iconic white gravel roads. An event that combines sport, nature, conviviality and promotion of the territory, attracting athletes and enthusiasts from all over the world.
Three routes, one unforgettable experience
The 2026 edition once again offers three different routes, designed for runners and walkers with varying levels of preparation:
- ULTRATRAIL Chianti Classico Marathon – 47 km, the most demanding challenge, with 1,600 meters of positive elevation gain, awarding 2 ITRA points.
- TRAIL Chianti Classico Marathon – 22 km, an intense and spectacular race, with 630 meters of positive elevation gain, awarding 1 ITRA point.
- 10 km Free Pace & Nordic Walking, non-competitive and open to everyone, enriched by a large food and wine refreshment stop along the route.
Start and finish are located in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Mercatale Val di Pesa (FI), with courses crossing the municipalities of San Casciano Val di Pesa, Greve in Chianti and Barberino Tavarnelle.
A carefully designed race pack and high-quality services
As always, great attention is given to athlete hospitality and the quality of services included in the registration fee.
For runners registered in the competitive races (47 km and 22 km), the race pack includes:

For participants in the 10 km Free Pace & Nordic Walking, the following are included:
