The new competitive race will start at 7:00 PM and pass through some of the most evocative landscapes of Chianti
The 2027 Chianti Classico Marathon is getting ready to introduce an exciting new feature. During the May 8–9, 2027weekend, alongside the event’s established distances, a new 10K competitive race will make its debut, adding another opportunity for running enthusiasts to experience Chianti from a different perspective.
The race will start at 7:00 PM on Saturday, May 8, allowing runners to take on the course in the evocative late-afternoon and early-evening atmosphere, as the changing light brings out the unique colours of the Chianti hills.
A new 10K through vineyards, olive groves and fascinating historic locations
The new race will follow the same course as the 10K scheduled for Sunday morning, but runners will experience it at a completely different time of day.
The route will pass through some of the area’s most scenic locations, including the village of Querceto and Villa Licia, winding through a landscape of vineyards, olive groves and places steeped in history and charm.
It will be a competitive 10K, while remaining deeply connected to the identity of the Chianti Classico Marathon: running surrounded by nature, passing through historic locations and discovering the landscape from a different perspective.
Only 200 places: a limited-entry race
For this first edition, participation will be limited to just 200 runners.
This decision is intended to maintain a streamlined race format and ensure the best possible organisational conditions for the new competition.
Anyone wishing to be part of the first edition of the new Saturday evening 10K competitive race should therefore register early. Places are strictly limited and registration will close as soon as the maximum of 200 participants has been reached.
Prizes for the winners
The new race will have all the features of a genuine competitive event, including prizes for the winners.
It will be a short and intense challenge, potentially attracting both specialists in faster distances and runners looking to add a new experience to their Chianti weekend.
The CCM 2027 weekend gets a new challenge
The new Saturday evening 10K will join the three distances already confirmed for the 2027 Chianti Classico Marathon:

🟡 22 km Trail
🔵 10 km Leisure Run & Nordic Walking
The new competition will make the CCM weekend even richer, giving runners another opportunity to challenge themselves.
On Saturday, May 8 at 7:00 PM, Chianti will be running into the sunset.
A new course, a new atmosphere, a new challenge.
And above all, only 200 race bibs available.
