In the race pack of the edition 2022 of Chianti Classico Marathon the runners find a bottle of Chianti Classico Castelgreve DOCG wine.

DOCG it means Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin, the highest level of protection in the Italian classification of wines.

The bottle that will end up in the hands and then on the tables of the athletes is an intense ruby red based on Sangiovese grapes, with elegant aromas, notes of violet and nuances of ripe fruit. The taste is full, harmonious with soft and velvety tannins and a persistent finish.

It is produced with 95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot vines, by hand harvesting with a choice of bunches.

The vinification takes place through fermentation at a controlled temperature of 28 ° C with 10 days of maceration on the skins. It then continues with the maturation for 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels and finally refining in the bottle for at least 1 month before being placed on the market ready to be tasted and drunk.

The recommended serving temperature is around 16-18 ° C and goes well with tasty red meats, game, hard cheeses.
