The Chianti Classico Marathon, also for the 2026 edition scheduled for Sunday, May 10, promotes the Memorial Sara Bartoli. Now in its fourth edition, it includes a special recognition awarded to the youngest female finisher of the 47 km UltraTrail.

An award looking to the future

The Memorial Sara Bartoli, assigned to the youngest finisher at the 47 km UltraTrail finish line, aims to highlight young female athletes and reward not only performance, but also the courage, determination, and passion required to take on such a demanding challenge.

Remembering Sara

Sara Bartoli held a degree in Food Science and Nutrition and made sport and health a true mission in her life.

A high-level athlete, she was a champion in OCR (Obstacle Course Race) and proudly wore the jersey of the Italian National Team.

Her connection with the Chianti Classico Marathon was direct and meaningful: in 2018 she starred in the event’s promotional video, becoming its testimonial, while in 2019 she appeared on the Rai TV show I Soliti Ignoti, bringing her energy and enthusiasm to a wider audience.

Her passing, on July 27, 2022, during a training session along the Grevigiana road (SP 92), left a deep mark on both the sporting community and the local area.

A memory that becomes commitment

Through this Memorial, the Chianti Classico Marathon renews its commitment to keeping Sara’s memory alive, transforming it into a concrete and meaningful gesture within the event.

The award thus becomes a moment of reflection as well as continuity: a way to turn remembrance into positive energy, accompanying runners along the white gravel roads of Chianti.

Sport, values and community

Including the Memorial Sara Bartoli in the race program once again highlights how the Chianti Classico Marathon is much more than a sporting event.

It is a community that comes together, shares experiences, and gives value to stories, people, and relationships that make each edition special.

On May 10, 2026, along the course of the 47 km UltraTrail, there will not only be a race to run, but also a message to carry forward, step by step.

Because sport, when lived with heart, also knows how to remember.
