Every year there is a moment that participants of the Chianti Classico Marathon eagerly await: the unveiling of the finisher medals for the new edition.

These are not just ordinary race medals, but true collector’s items, designed to tell the story of the territory and make the memory of the race even more special. For the 2026 edition, the tradition continues with two new creations dedicated to the event’s competitive distances: the 47 km UltraTrail and the 22 km Trail.

Once again, the Chianti Classico Marathon has chosen to rely on the craftsmanship and artistry of local artisan Alberto Bellosi, who has created both medals by hand in Impruneta terracotta, one of the most iconic materials of Tuscan tradition.

Two Medals, Two Symbols of the Territory

The 2026 medals have been conceived as small handcrafted masterpieces, capable of combining sport, culture, and the identity of the Chianti region.

The medal dedicated to the 47 km UltraTrail, the longest and most demanding distance of the race, features the Black Rooster (Gallo Nero), the historic symbol of Chianti Classico. This internationally recognized emblem represents the vineyards, traditions, and history of these hills. Wearing this medal will mean having conquered one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of the Chianti Classico Marathon.

The 22 km Trail medal, on the other hand, is inspired by the shape of an ancient terracotta vase, a symbol that immediately evokes Tuscan craftsmanship and the long-standing tradition of terracotta production in Impruneta and the surrounding Florentine hills.

Two different symbols, connected by the same idea: transforming a race medal into an object that truly reflects the soul of the Chianti landscape.

Collectible Pieces

Over the years, the medals of the Chianti Classico Marathon have become increasingly appreciated by participants. Each edition features a new design, created to surprise runners and to form a small collection that tells the story of the race year after year.

Because they are handmade, every medal is slightly different from the others, carrying those small variations that make true artisanal work unique and authentic.

A Reward Worth the Effort

The medals will be awarded to all athletes who complete the competitive distances of the event, with start and finish in Mercatale Val di Pesa, in the heart of the Chianti region.

Crossing the finish line of the Chianti Classico Marathon will therefore mean not only achieving a personal sporting goal, but also taking home a unique object that captures the essence of the land through which the race unfolds.

A genuine keepsake made of earth, effort, tradition, and beauty—just like Chianti itself.
