At the Chianti Classico Marathon, the connection with the territory is not experienced only along the courses that wind through vineyards, rolling hills, and iconic white gravel roads. It is also reflected in the details that make this event truly special, such as the race pack prepared for athletes participating in the competitive distances.

Runners registered for the UltraTrail 47 km and the Trail 22 km will find in their race pack a bottle of Chianti Classico DOCG 2024 from Castello di Gabbiano, one of the most authentic symbols of this remarkable wine region.

This wine fully represents the identity of the Chianti area. Made predominantly from Sangiovese (90%), complemented by a small percentage of Merlot and native red grape varieties, it comes from a balanced vintage that allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and harmoniously.

The wine is fermented at controlled temperatures and aged using a combination of medium and large French oak barrels, with part of the wine refined in barriques and in steel and cement tanks. This approach helps preserve the most authentic characteristics of Sangiovese: freshness, structure, and a pleasant fruity expression.

In the glass it shows a bright ruby red color, with aromas of violet, notes of marasca cherry, and delicate spicy nuances. On the palate it is dry, smooth, and full-bodied, with well-defined tannins and a long, persistent finish.

Including a bottle of Chianti Classico DOCG in the race pack is not simply a gift for the athletes; it is also a way to tell the story of the land that hosts the event. After running through vineyards, castles, and historic villages of the Chianti region, participants will be able to take home a true piece of the experience.

A souvenir to share, perhaps after the race itself, raising a glass to the effort, the beauty of the landscapes crossed along the way, and the emotion of reaching the finish line.
