SAFETY AND CONTROL
On the way there will be employees of the organization and rescue personnel in constant contact with the start / finish area. Rescue vehicles will be stationed at different points along the route, as well as at the start and finish, where there will also be a resuscitator and a PMA (advanced medical post).
Any runner in case of need will be able to appeal to the rescue:
– presenting themselves to the personnel on the path that will alert the rescue teams
– asking for help from another runner to call for help
Every runner must provide minimal assistance to those who need it during the race but without moving people with suspected fractures and calling for help. Don’t forget that:
– depending on the conditions of the race and the point of the route where you are, rescue operations may arrive later than you expect. Your safety will also depend on the material that you have brought in your backpack.
– the various assistance points will be indicated during the briefing and at the start. The intervention of vehicles and people outside of these points necessarily involves movement from the principals and temporary changes in the security arrangements. The request for assistance must be justifiably justified by a specific danger.
Otherwise, that is in the cases in which it is possible to reach the garrison autonomously, it is necessary to continue up to that point.
– a runner who appeals to the rescue or a doctor submits himself to his authority and must accept the decisions.
Rescuers and official doctors are authorized in particular to stop the race (deactivating the race number) of any runner who they deem unfit to continue the race and to evacuate the riders they deem in danger by any means deemed suitable. In case of need, for reasons that are in the interest of the rescued person, the first aid operations will be taken over by the rescuers’ will and if necessary the activation of all the appropriate means will be necessary.
The costs arising from the use of these exceptional means will be borne by the rescued person. It will be the responsibility of the runner to prepare and present to his personal insurance the file necessary for a possible refund. In case of impossibility to contact the coordinator of the route (on the bib number the emergency number to be activated is engraved) it is possible to call the health assistance directly (in particular if you are in the area without telephone coverage) by contacting the telephone number 118 for ‘Italy.
Along the route control points will be set up, where the organization’s staff will monitor the passage of the athletes.
IMPORTANT: In case of emergency on your bib number is engraved the telephone number to call.
