The 2019 edition of the Chianti Classico Marathon inaugurates the tasting phase in the cellar. In fact, this third edition marks the start of a collaboration with some of the main winery and farmhouses in the area.

 

SATURDAY 1ST JUNE WALK WITH WINE TASTING AT CASTELLO DI GABBIANO

Saturday 1 June a walk is planned to the Castle of Gabbiano where a tasting of three wines and extra-virgin olive oil will take place. The departure is set at 16.00 from Mercatale Val di Pesa, Piazza Vittorio Veneto. Together with some expert guides, the group will walk to the Castle of Gabbiano in a journey of 2.8 km for a duration of about 35 minutes.
Once at the Castle, guided tour of the cellars and tasting of three wines and extra virgin olive oil produced by the company. The return is scheduled on foot or for those wishing to use vehicles. The cost is 10 euros.
To participate, it is essential to book by May 26, 2019 by writing an email to: info@chianticlassicomarathon.com specifying name and surname, and registration to the Chianti Classico Marathon 2019 personal or family member.

Dinner: Saturday 1st June dinner for athletes and family members. Pairing with wines obtained exclusively from vineyards crossed by the Marathon. The locations of the vineyards will be shown on the map of the race route.

Taste of 3 pecorino cheeses: fresh pecorino with red pepper mustard, pecorino with red pepper and yellow pepper mustard, Tuscan pecorino Dop seasoned with pod jelly. Fettunte with two mono-varietal oils Dop Chianti Classico, bruschetta, fresh tomato, capers, basil and oregano. Warm rustic with melted pecorino, spicy salami, Maremma datterino and balsamic 8 years.
